Quantinuum has entered into an agreement with the U.S. Department of Commerce to receive $100 million as part of the CHIPS Act. The funding will be allocated towards the development and production of fault-tolerant quantum computers based on ion trap technology.

To enhance the scalability of these technologies domestically, two strategic partners have been enlisted. GlobalFoundries will focus on manufacturing ion traps and microelectronics using 300-mm silicon wafers, while Monarch Quantum will develop scalable lasers and optics. This initiative aims to simplify system architectures and strengthen the resilience of supply chains within the United States.
