Meta Unveils Autonomous AI Agent Muse

Meta has launched Muse, a personal AI assistant designed to help users with various daily activities, including online shopping, scheduling, and email management.

Operating on the Muse Spark model, Muse distinguishes itself from typical chatbots by focusing on autonomous functionalities. The AI can monitor incoming messages, add important events to calendars, manage shopping carts, and complete web forms. For secure transactions, it utilizes Stripe's Link service, with plans to incorporate Shop Pay and 1Password in the future.

Muse functions within a specialized environment known as Muse Secure VM, which features an integrated browser and terminal. It is capable of coding and developing tailored utility tools, and it can work in the background, notifying users only when necessary. Importantly, irreversible actions, such as bill payments or sending emails, require user confirmation.

Instead of long text messages, Muse can produce interactive documents, expense trackers, and summary tables. Users can personalize the assistant's name, appearance, and communication style, as well as review its activity log and manage stored data.

Currently, access is limited to users in the United States through the website muse.ai, as well as mobile apps for iOS and Android, and WhatsApp. Future plans include integration with Meta's smart glasses.

A basic version of the service is free but requires a linked bank card. For additional features, users can opt for paid subscriptions: the Power plan at $20 per month and the Maximum plan at $100 per month.

Earlier this year, Mark Zuckerberg unveiled Meta Compute, an initiative aimed at enhancing the company's AI infrastructure.
