The launch of the MegaETH blockchain is set for February 9. This project, touted as one of the most anticipated debuts in the industry, is backed by Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin.

The claimed throughput is 100,000 transactions per second with millisecond latency, while maintaining full compatibility with Ethereum.
The team aims to create a "world computer" that blurs the lines between Web2 servers and distributed ledgers. In the testnet, developers are already building video games, prediction markets, and payment applications.
Among the investors are venture firm Dragonfly Capital, Ethereum co-founder Joseph Lubin, EigenLayer creator Shriram Kannan, and Helius founder Mert Mumtaz.
Last year, the project operator, MegaLabs, held a token sale. Demand significantly exceeded supply: 11,534 wallets contributed $300 million against a fundraising cap of $50 million. To allocate tokens, the team employed a unique method—analyzing investors' social media activity history.
The MegaETH ecosystem will introduce a native yield-generating stablecoin called USDm. Its issuer will be Ethena, with collateral provided by a tokenized fund from BlackRock.
Notably, in March 2025, a developer known as Gunboats ported the recently un-sanctioned mixer Tornado Cash to the testnet of the MegaETH L2 project.
