Robinhood integrates Ripple's RLUSD stablecoin and Treasury software to enhance its financial operations and streamline cash management.
Robinhood Enhances Operations with Ripple Technology
Robinhood, the popular trading platform with 28.6 million funded accounts, has announced the integration of Ripple's RLUSD stablecoin and Ripple Treasury software into its operations. The RLUSD stablecoin officially launched on Robinhood's blockchain and Bitstamp as of Tuesday, with plans to expand its availability to the primary Robinhood app later this year.
RLUSD is a stablecoin pegged to the U.S. dollar, facilitating seamless transactions across blockchain networks without the delays typically associated with banking hours. Ripple has stated that RLUSD's market capitalization has exceeded $2.5 billion since its launch in December 2024.
As part of this partnership, Robinhood will utilize Ripple Treasury to manage its global cash operations, which includes cash-flow forecasting and intercompany netting to streamline internal payments. This integration is expected to enhance Robinhood's operational efficiency significantly.
Ripple Prime, a service that provides lending and trade clearing for institutional clients, is already collaborating with Bitstamp to offer margin financing across approximately 20 digital assets. Ripple's acquisition of Bitstamp for $200 million was finalized in June 2025, positioning Robinhood to leverage the exchange's institutional trading volume.
Robinhood plans to employ RLUSD on the XRP Ledger for institutional settlements, ensuring that large trades are finalized effectively within Bitstamp's institutional framework. Johann Kerbrat, senior vice president at Robinhood Crypto and International, emphasized the importance of utility in advancing stablecoins, stating, "Working with Ripple, Bitstamp and Robinhood will have access to RLUSD for institutional settlement... That is what a connected, global financial system looks like."
This strategic move comes after Robinhood scaled back its crypto offerings amid regulatory scrutiny. The firm had previously reintroduced XRP for U.S. customers in November 2024. Following a challenging period that saw a 34% decline in crypto transaction revenue, Robinhood is set to release its third-quarter earnings report soon, marking the first full quarter since launching Robinhood Chain in July.
