On July 23, the Verus Bridge, which operates on the Ethereum network, experienced its second hacking incident in a short span of two months. Reports from Blockaid indicate that the attacker took advantage of a flaw in the import path, leading to unsecured withdrawals on the Ethereum side and resulting in a theft of around $7.54 million worth of various cryptocurrencies, including ETH, tBTC, USDC, USDT, EURC, MKR, and scrvUSD.
This breach has raised concerns as analysts noted similarities to a previous attack on May 18, where a similar vulnerability led to a loss of $11.5 million, suggesting that the same contract and entry point were exploited in both incidents.
