The Solana Foundation has announced a partnership with the World Series of Poker (WSOP) to enable cryptocurrency transactions for entry fees and prize payouts. Beginning in December, players will have the option to receive their tournament winnings in stablecoins.
Implementation Details
This initiative will utilize MoonPay's payment infrastructure, allowing players to register for events using Solana (SOL) or Solana-backed stablecoins without incurring processing fees. The stablecoin payouts will kick off during the WSOP Paradise event in the Bahamas.

Vibhu Norby, Chief Product Officer of the Solana Foundation, highlighted the transformative potential of this integration, stating that it simplifies the financial aspects of poker for players worldwide. He noted, "Poker players prefer to manage their funds effectively and seek quick, efficient experiences." Norby believes that the elimination of fees and instant payouts will drive greater adoption of cryptocurrency in the poker community.

Beyond facilitating payments, the Solana Foundation will be the official presenting sponsor for the 2026 World Series of Poker and the WSOP Paradise, with Solana branding prominently featured during broadcasts and events. Both organizations are also set to collaborate on future on-chain poker products.

The World Series of Poker hosts approximately 50 events worldwide and has awarded over $4 billion in prize money. The upcoming “Main Event,” featuring a $10,000 entry fee, will commence television coverage on July 2.
