On August 4, Russian President Vladimir Putin enacted the law titled "On Digital Currency and Digital Rights." This legislation permits cryptocurrency transactions through crypto exchanges, brokers, management companies, and regulated trading platforms. Digital depositories will be responsible for managing rights to digital assets.
For non-qualified investors, the annual investment limit will be set at 300,000 rubles per intermediary after passing an assessment. However, exporters and importers will have the freedom to use cryptocurrency for cross-border transactions without any restrictions.
The law will take effect on September 1, with some provisions having a transitional period lasting until July 1, 2027.
