Anthropic has introduced a prohibition in its Claude Code instructions, which is based on the Opus 5.5 model, preventing the recreation of existing video games. This restriction applies even if users alter the game's title or present it as an original project. Addy Osmani, a representative of the company, stated that the decision aims to protect intellectual property amid the growing prevalence of AI-generated copies of popular games. However, Claude can still assist in developing original projects, games within existing genres, and products based on users' own materials. Anthropic plans to refine these restrictions to ensure they do not hinder legitimate development.
