PONS, the native token of the Pons application on the rapidly growing Robinhood Chain network, is currently a hot topic in the cryptocurrency community, standing out as the top performer on the chain.
As the primary token for Pons, which serves as Robinhood Chain's major meme coin factory, it allows users to create cryptocurrencies primarily for fun or as part of internet trends rather than for serious use cases. Those familiar with the Pump.fun app on the Solana network will find this concept quite similar.
As per the latest data, PONS was trading at $0.5978 on Uniswap as of September 3, boasting a market capitalization exceeding $430 million and a notable 31.82% gain within a single day. This means that an initial investment of $1,000 made on July 17, when PONS hit its lowest point of around $0.0033, would now be valued at approximately $181,000.
Pons operates like a vending machine for creating new cryptocurrencies. Users can select a name, symbol, and image, and the platform will generate a token with a predetermined supply of 1 billion directly into a trading pool—no coding skills required, no team allocations, and no delays. Pons does not handle user funds; all transactions and launches are conducted through the creator's wallet.
The platform is built exclusively on Robinhood Chain, a blockchain network launched by Robinhood on July 1. This layer-2 solution processes transactions more efficiently and economically before settling them back to Ethereum. Although Robinhood designed the chain primarily for tokenized stocks and DeFi applications, meme coins have been the main driver of its initial traffic.
Pons functions on Robinhood Chain similarly to how Pump.fun operates on Solana, serving as the go-to platform for traders eager to launch and speculate on new tokens. It commenced operations shortly after Robinhood Chain's mainnet, quickly absorbing most of the activity following the abrupt halt of an early competitor named Noxa on July 11.
PONS began trading around July 15 at a fraction of a cent, hit its lowest point two days later, and then surged to $0.066 by July 27 as Pons emerged as the chain's busiest launchpad.
This initial surge was short-lived due to increased competition. In early August, Uniswap—Robinhood Chain's primary exchange—introduced its own launchpad, Pools.trade, which charged no fees and captured half of all launchpad activity, leading to a drop in PONS to around $0.016.
The recovery was driven by a solid tokenomics model rather than mere hype surrounding Robinhood Chain. Approximately 80% of Pons's revenue is allocated to a buyback-and-burn mechanism: the platform uses trading fees to purchase PONS tokens from the market and permanently eliminate them, effectively reducing the supply. So far, about 29% of the original 1 billion tokens, totaling around 288 million, have been burned, resulting in an effective supply of about 712 million.
In the latter half of August, PONS saw another breakout, climbing from roughly $0.03 to a new peak of nearly $0.49 by the beginning of September.
During this period, it surpassed CashCat—the flagship meme coin of the chain, named after a concept considered by Robinhood founders Vlad Tenev and Baiju Bhatt before launching their company—to become the largest token by market capitalization on Robinhood Chain.
Tenev acknowledged the growing ecosystem, sharing with podcaster Graham Stephan on the Iced Coffee Hour that on Robinhood Chain, "if you hold a meme coin, you just get stock tokens airdropped to you."
PONS was added to Binance Wallet's Alpha trading tier on September 2, and the token continued to reach new highs the following day.

On September 3, Pons the platform recorded $5.95 million in daily fees, ranking it fourth among all crypto protocols tracked by DefiLlama and briefly outpacing Robinhood Chain itself in earnings that day.
PONS is now traded on Uniswap pools within Robinhood Chain, in addition to centralized listings on MEXC, Gate.io, KuCoin, and Binance Alpha, as well as futures on Hyperliquid, Bybit, and Aster. Market capitalization estimates vary by source, ranging from $392 million on DefiLlama to $576 million on OpenSea, highlighting the volatility and rapid changes in the token's liquidity on-chain.
