Camera-Free Ray-Ban Meta Glasses

The Ray-Ban Meta Audio glasses mark the first Meta eyewear to lack a camera, instead featuring open speakers and microphones alongside AI support.

These glasses allow users to enjoy music and podcasts, make calls, and interact with Meta AI and Muse.

Weighing in at 43 grams, the glasses offer up to 12 hours of use on a single charge, with the case providing an additional 48 hours of battery life.

They come in 23 color and lens options, with two frame styles — Clubmaster and Burbank, starting at a price of $349. Pre-orders opened on September 23, with shipping scheduled for October 13.

Additionally, Meta showcased the third generation of Ray-Ban Meta glasses, now equipped with a 12-megapixel camera capable of recording in 3K Ultra HD, six microphones, and a battery life of up to nine hours.

This model line includes Wayfarer, Aviator, and Zena styles, starting at $449.

By the end of the year, Meta plans to expand its AI glasses line under the Ray-Ban, Oakley, and Meta brands to over 100 variations.

Muse AI Integration in Smart Glasses

In the coming months, Meta will incorporate its personal AI agent, Muse, into its smart glasses, as announced by CEO Mark Zuckerberg. Activating the assistant will simply require saying its name.

Muse will be able to perform background tasks and utilize visual context, such as working with items on a shelf or lists that the user is viewing.

Meta also revealed a new voice mode, allowing users to converse with Muse while it simultaneously handles tasks. Users will have the option to customize the assistant's voice, including its pace and accent.

The Muse Realtime Avatar feature will enable the creation of an expressive interactive avatar for real-time communication.

Muse will also have its own email address, allowing it to be included in conversations or receive emails to manage tasks on behalf of the user.

A Mac version is already available for controlling computers. With user permission, the agent can interact with any application and continue executing assigned tasks even if the user steps away from the device.

Muse Charm: A Portable AI Device

Meta introduced the Muse Charm, a pocket-sized device allowing users to communicate with the AI agent without needing to launch a smartphone app.

This device, roughly the size of a hand, can attach to a keyring. It features a small screen displaying a digital character named Jolly, and a fingerprint scanner in the corner that instantly starts a conversation with Muse when touched.

"We placed the entire Muse experience — including the voice mode and real-time avatar — into a device that fits on a keychain," stated Zuckerberg.

He noted that the team aims to prepare the Muse Charm for shipment by the holiday season, although neither the exact sale date nor pricing has been disclosed on Meta's official site.

Lightweight VR Glasses from Meta

The Meta VR Glasses weigh about 100 grams, making them roughly five times lighter than the Quest 3. To achieve this lightweight design, the computing unit, battery, and storage have been moved to a separate module connected to the glasses via an optical cable. This module can be clipped to clothing or stored in a pocket or bag.

The device features micro-OLED panels with a 5K Infinite Display and a pixel density of 37 PPD. It supports Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, powered by the Snapdragon Reality Elite processor.

The external module provides up to three hours of continuous high-resolution content playback and supports 45W charging.

Users can navigate the interface using eye movement and hand gestures without controllers. The glasses are compatible with Touch Plus, and a Bluetooth gamepad can be connected for cloud gaming via Xbox.

In working mode, users can open multiple virtual screens and turn a tabletop into a keyboard and touchpad.

According to Meta, this is the first VR device certified under the IMAX Enhanced standard. The company is also collaborating with Disney to develop 3D content and immersive film versions.

Alongside ESPN, Meta is advancing the Immersive Sports format with 8K streaming video and 180-degree views. Following the launch of the VR Glasses, the company plans to offer over 100 live sports broadcasts annually in immersive format, featuring MLB, NBC Sports, TNT Sports, and UFC.

At launch, over 75 games designed for hand-only control will be available for the Meta VR Glasses, which will also provide access to the Meta Quest catalog.

Another feature is Hologram, which creates a photorealistic digital representation of the user, capturing their facial expressions and reactions in real time. This technology will work with video calling services, including WhatsApp and Zoom, and can be created with a simple smartphone video.

The Meta VR Glasses are set to launch in spring 2027, priced at $1,299.99.

It's worth noting that in September, sources from The Information reported that Meta was preparing to release its first camera-free AI glasses following complaints about hidden recording capabilities in the Ray-Ban Meta glasses.
