  • Google Cloud is on the lookout for a Web3 architect in Hong Kong to assist financial institutions in tokenizing real-world assets and building blockchain infrastructure in the Asia-Pacific area.
  • Apple is hiring a financial product strategy lead to analyze potential new products, partnerships, and business models related to Apple Pay, Apple Card, Apple Cash, and peer-to-peer payments.
  • While these positions do not confirm any upcoming cryptocurrency products, they reflect Big Tech's increasing focus on stablecoins, tokenized deposits, and blockchain payment systems.

In a clear signal of Big Tech's interest in digital assets, Google and Apple are actively recruiting professionals with experience in cryptocurrency.

Google Cloud is specifically seeking an Industry Principal Architect based in Hong Kong to collaborate with protocol foundations, exchanges, custodians, and financial institutions to facilitate the tokenization of real-world assets throughout the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.

This role requires expertise in blockchain networks, smart contracts, stablecoin systems, tokenized deposits, and custody solutions. Google anticipates that this hire will provide guidance to executives and help define its Web3 product strategy, aiming to become the leading cloud service provider for digital asset creators and institutional users.

Apple is also making strides in the digital assets sphere. The company is looking for an Apple Pay Financial Product Strategy Lead to be based in either Cupertino, California, or New York.

While these job openings do not confirm the launch of new crypto products, they do indicate that expertise in stablecoins and tokenized deposits is increasingly becoming relevant in the operations of two of the largest tech and payments platforms globally, rather than being solely the domain of cryptocurrency-native companies.

The Apple position is centered on strategizing for Apple Card, Apple Cash, peer-to-peer payments, and other consumer financial services. The company is seeking a candidate to evaluate new products, partnerships, and business models across wallets, payments, and commerce.

Google's role is more directly linked to digital assets, focusing on cloud infrastructure, transaction-signing systems, blockchain nodes, and compliance standards in markets such as Hong Kong.

In March 2025, CME Group, a platform for institutional derivatives trading, announced an expansion of its collaboration with Google Cloud to explore asset tokenization and blockchain payment solutions. It also revealed the initial phase of integrating and testing the Google Cloud Universal Ledger (GCUL).

The recent hiring announcements follow Samsung's initiative to incorporate stablecoin functionalities into Galaxy smartphones via Samsung Wallet, a move that could potentially provide hundreds of millions of users with default access to digital asset payment solutions. Analysts have suggested that Samsung's extensive reach may offer a significant distribution advantage for stablecoins.
