A former counterintelligence employee of the FBI, Patrick Stephen Yarmok, has been arrested on charges of stealing more than $1 million in cryptocurrency from wallets involved in agency investigations.
According to authorities, Yarmok, who had access to classified information, transferred funds to addresses under his control by exploiting access to cryptographic keys. Investigators also found inquiries on his devices related to relocating to Portugal and plans for emigration. Yarmok has been charged but has not yet entered a plea regarding his guilt.
