Bristol Trio Sentenced for Cryptocurrency Home Invasion

Three men have been sentenced to prison terms ranging from five to six years for their role in a violent home invasion aimed at stealing cryptocurrency from a victim in Bristol, England. The incident occurred in the early hours of May 15 when Terroll Paul, 31, Mohamed Samagassi, 37, and Pierre Madzou, 30, broke into the victim's home, assaulted him, and demanded a significant amount of digital currency.

The victim sustained serious injuries, requiring hospitalization after being struck on the head. Fortunately, his teenage sister was able to alert the police, leading to the quick arrest of the three assailants at the scene.

All three men pleaded guilty to aggravated burglary in August and received their sentences on October 15 at the Bristol Crown Court. Paul was sentenced to six years, Madzou to five and a half years, and Samagassi to five years in prison.

The victim expressed the psychological toll the attack has taken on him, stating, "Before, I was bubbly, talkative and outgoing but now I would describe myself as tense and apprehensive."

The police have not disclosed the specific amount of cryptocurrency that was demanded during the attack. This incident highlights the growing trend of so-called "wrench attacks" in the UK, where criminals resort to violence to force cryptocurrency holders to relinquish their assets. Recent statistics indicate that these attacks have cost victims approximately $124 million globally in the first half of 2026, marking a dramatic increase compared to previous years.
