On April 28, Moscow hosted the Alpha Summit, a forum organized by Alfa-Bank for large businesses. The crypto industry was represented by Dmitry Machikhin, founder of the AML service BitOK, and Sergey Khitrov, founder of the Blockchain Life conference.
Machikhin served as a speaker, while Khitrov moderated the session titled "Digital Currencies and Tokenization: The Future of Financial Markets." The discussion also featured Alexey Yakovlev, Director of the Financial Policy Department of the Russian Ministry of Finance; Roman Goryunov, President of the "NP RTS" association; and Dmitry Witman, Chief Operating Officer of Alfa-Bank's corporate and investment business.
The morning program began with a dialogue between Elvira Nabiullina, Chair of the Central Bank of Russia, and Vladimir Verkhoshinsky, Chief Executive Officer of Alfa-Bank. This was followed by a discussion on the prospects of the Russian economy, featuring Maxim Reshetnikov, Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation.
The crypto session was one of three parallel discussions in the afternoon. At the same time, sessions on investment strategies for large private capital and capital market instruments took place.
According to Machikhin, holding a crypto session alongside leadership from the Central Bank and relevant agencies signals the growing importance of digital assets in the agenda of the Russian economy.
"As leaders in AML analytics for crypto assets in BRICS countries, we support the trend towards comprehensive regulation. Digital compliance is receiving serious attention, aligning with the recommendations of FATF and EAG. Many questions about the market and its shadow aspects still require clarification, but this is a path that other countries have already taken," noted Machikhin.
Previously, ForkLog discussed with lawyers and market participants the contentious aspects of future cryptocurrency regulation in Russia.
