Alchemy and Visa have launched AgentCard, allowing AI agents to make online purchases for users securely and efficiently.
Alchemy has teamed up with Visa to introduce the AgentCard, a new service that allows AI agents to make online purchases for users.
This service leverages Visa Intelligent Commerce to provide AI systems with essential data, including a virtual Visa card, email, phone number, and cryptocurrency wallet. Developers can grant AI agents payment access quickly via a single API setup.
Powered by models from OpenAI and Anthropic, these AI agents can handle tasks such as booking travel, ordering groceries, and managing subscriptions without any user input during checkout.
The AgentCard system includes features like spending limits, category restrictions, and customizable budgets. Payments are primarily processed using Visa tokens, ensuring users maintain their banking rewards and credit lines. Additionally, if a merchant accepts cryptocurrencies, the service can facilitate payments using a crypto wallet.
“Every shift in technology has created new economic participants. AI agents are the next step; they need access to the global economy,” stated Alchemy CEO Nikil Viswanathan.
Visa representatives assure that their infrastructure will provide security and scalability for these transactions. The AgentCard will automatically select the best payment method based on what the merchant supports.
Recently, the MetaMask team also announced a wallet designed for autonomous AI, while Coinbase launched a service that connects AI agents to user accounts for trading and payment operations within specified limits.
