Alchemy Launches AgentPay Gateway to Unify AI Agent Payments

Alchemy, a leading provider of Web3 infrastructure, has launched AgentPay, a new payment gateway aimed at integrating various AI-based payment systems including those from major players like Coinbase, Stripe, Visa, Mastercard, and Circle.

This innovative tool addresses the challenges of incompatibility among autonomous payment protocols, allowing merchants to avoid the cumbersome process of setting up separate gateways for each payment standard. "This is unfeasible, and with the launch of new systems, fragmentation will only increase. AgentPay fixes this," stated Alchemy's CTO, Guillaume Ponsen.

To utilize AgentPay, merchants simply register their existing API, which then provides them with a new endpoint. This setup enables any AI agent to process payments using a variety of supported protocols such as x402, MPP, A2P, or L402. Ponsen clarified that AgentPay serves only as a transit layer for routing payment commands, ensuring that Alchemy does not handle users' funds directly.

Currently in closed beta testing, AgentPay is expected to be publicly released in the coming weeks. The launch comes amid growing interest in autonomous finance, which relies on micro and nano transactions executed between AI agents without human intervention. Analysts at McKinsey have projected that retail payments through AI agents could reach between $3-5 trillion by 2030.

In conjunction with this announcement, the Solana Foundation has introduced the Solana Agent Skills, a toolkit designed to enhance AI agents' capabilities for blockchain interactions.
