  • AgentCard holders can perform transactions using Visa-issued tokens, retaining rewards, credit lines, and card advantages without needing to set up new accounts or credentials.
  • Each AgentCard is assigned a unique email address at agentcard.email and a new phone number.

The blockchain infrastructure company Alchemy has announced that AI agents using its AgentCard can now connect to the Visa (V) network, granting them full identity and payment capabilities to facilitate online purchases on behalf of users.

This integration enables AgentCard, a virtual identification and spending card for AI agents, to leverage Visa Intelligent Commerce to perform tasks such as booking travel, grocery shopping, or renewing subscriptions, all without the user interacting with a checkout interface.

Early adoption of agent-native payment protocols is being driven by companies like Stripe, Visa, and Mastercard (MA) as they venture into what is termed agentic commerce. AgentCard is compatible with agents developed on models from any provider, including OpenAI and Anthropic.

“Every significant technological transition has led to the emergence of a new category of economic participant,” remarked Nikil Viswanathan, co-founder and CEO of Alchemy. “The internet gave rise to online enterprises; mobile technology birthed the app economy. Now, AI agents are the next frontier, and AgentCard is the gateway to their access to the global economy.”

Through the connection to the Visa system, AI agents can utilize Visa-issued tokens for transactions, maintaining rewards, credit options, and card benefits without the need to establish new accounts or credentials, as stated in the announcement. AgentCard's routing layer determines the optimal payment method for each transaction and defaults to single-use tokens when agent-native protocols are unavailable.

Every agent created through AgentCard is assigned a unique email address at agentcard.email and a fresh phone number, completing the identity framework necessary for agents to register for services, receive verifications, and operate with credentials similar to those of a human.
