Researchers from Google DeepMind have announced that four AI agents powered by Gemini 4 Argon successfully completed Minecraft independently, without human intervention. In a randomly generated world, these agents managed task allocation, resource gathering, information exchange, and strategic planning. They took 27 hours and 14 minutes to defeat the final boss, the Ender Dragon, during which they wrote 2,783 JavaScript programs, exchanged 229 messages, and died 605 times.
According to the developers, this marks the first fully autonomous completion of Minecraft using standard tools without pre-prepared game scripts. The experiment was conducted at an easy difficulty level.
