x402 Launches Marketplace for AI Agents

The developers behind the x402 payment standard, backed by Coinbase, have launched a new marketplace designed specifically for applications and services aimed at improving the functionality of AI agents.

Named Agentic.market, the platform serves as a central hub for the agent economy, offering tools to enhance the operations of digital assistants without requiring API keys. Product lead Nick Prince emphasized that the marketplace aims to give users and their AI agents access to a plethora of resources, allowing for easy discovery and integration of services.

"Agentic.market is a showcase for discovering, comparing, and utilizing x402 services," Prince stated, noting that the platform features a comprehensive web interface for users to explore available services. The marketplace has the potential to streamline the process for users, who previously relied on fragmented sources to find suitable tools.

Since its launch in May 2025, x402 has enabled virtual assistants to engage in transactions totaling hundreds of millions of dollars. However, this has often been done through informal means. To address this, Agentic.market incorporates a software layer allowing AI agents to autonomously seek and integrate new capabilities as needed, thus enhancing operational efficiency.

The platform also grants digital assistants various "skills," which are essentially codes that define how to use specific services. Moreover, it includes a wallet for facilitating the buying and selling of products on the marketplace.

Last December, the second version of the x402 protocol was released, further enhancing its capabilities for online payments using stablecoins.
