Key Highlights

  • Upwind Security completed a $400 million Series C funding round, bringing its valuation to $3.8 billion, a significant increase from $1.5 billion in January.
  • The company reported a fourfold increase in revenue for 2026, though specific figures were not disclosed.
  • Funds will be directed towards developing AI sensors, enhancing security for endpoints, and expanding into identity and data security.

Upwind Security announced that it raised $400 million in a Series C funding round, achieving a valuation of $3.8 billion. This round was led by Bessemer Venture Partners, which also spearheaded Upwind's previous $250 million Series B round less than nine months ago.

New investor Canapi Ventures joined existing backers in this latest round, further boosting the startup's capital. The funds will be utilized for product development and engineering enhancements.

“This funding positions Upwind as a leading player in the cloud and AI security sector,” the company stated. They highlighted their rapid growth, noting they are now the fastest-growing entity in modern cloud and AI security, although they view this achievement as just one step in their broader journey.

While Upwind reported a revenue increase of four times in 2026, detailed financial figures were not provided. The company serves numerous clients, including major names like Siemens, Roku, and Nubank, among others.

Upwind's platform focuses on gathering runtime intelligence, collecting data from cloud workloads and AI agents in real-time rather than relying on periodic scans. It is compatible with major cloud services such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, and Oracle Cloud, allowing seamless integration for AWS users through the Security Hub.

As cyber threats evolve, particularly with the increasing use of AI by attackers, Upwind emphasizes the need for more contextual security measures. Traditional alert systems often lack the necessary context to understand the actions of AI agents or identify serious vulnerabilities.

The funding comes in light of recent cybersecurity incidents involving AI models breaching corporate systems, underscoring the critical need for advanced security solutions. Founded in 2022, Upwind has now attracted over $800 million in funding, with its current valuation marking a substantial increase from earlier this year.
