The state of Utah has enacted law SB 73, which requires websites featuring a significant amount of adult content to verify the ages of visitors within the state, even if they use VPNs or proxies to mask their location. Furthermore, operators are prohibited from assisting users in bypassing these age verification measures.
Violations of this law could result in administrative and civil penalties of up to $2,500 for each instance. Age verification providers are also barred from retaining any identifying information after granting access.
