The United States and Japan have formed a strategic alliance called the Genesis Mission, aimed at advancing research in quantum information sciences, artificial intelligence, nuclear fusion energy, advanced materials, and biotechnology. Over the next five years, the two nations will jointly invest $1 billion, with each contributing $500 million.
This partnership will bring together eleven collaborative teams that include 12 national laboratories from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), a user facility from the Office of Science, and 12 Japanese research institutes. Participants in this initiative will have access to the DOE's computing resources, including the Fugaku supercomputer, enhancing their research capabilities.
