The United States and Japan have announced a strategic partnership under the Genesis Mission. This collaboration will focus on quantum information sciences, AI, nuclear fusion energy, advanced materials, and biotechnology. The partners plan to invest $1 billion over five years, with each side contributing $500 million. Eleven joint teams will unite 12 DOE national laboratories, one user facility from the Office of Science, and 12 Japanese research institutes; participants will gain access to DOE's computing systems and the Fugaku supercomputer.
