  • The proposal seeks shareholder approval for daily dividends for its four preferred stocks listed in the U.S., with a vote set for October 28.
  • This initiative aims to modify the payment schedule without changing dividend rates or total payouts, intending to align STRC's trading price closer to its $100 par value.
  • The company has invested around $1 billion in repurchasing preferred shares, including $174 million in STRC shares during the week ending September 20.

Strategy MSTR$158.27 is requesting shareholder approval for daily dividends across its four U.S. listed preferred stocks, namely STRF, STRC, STRK, and STRD.

As the largest corporate holder of bitcoin BTC$83,520.54, the company proposed that dividends would accumulate each calendar day, including weekends and holidays, and would be distributed on the following business day.

This proposal modifies the timing of payments but retains existing dividend rates and overall payout amounts. Shareholders will vote on this matter on October 28, and if approved, the inaugural daily dividend for STRC will be disbursed on November 2.

The shift to daily dividends is primarily aimed at STRC, which transitioned from monthly to bi-monthly payments in June. Since May, STRC has struggled to regain its $100 stated value, dipping as low as $71 during a bitcoin selloff in June. The current annual dividend yield stands at 12%.

Implementing daily dividends could enhance STRC's appeal to income-focused investors by minimizing the time taken to receive and reinvest dividends, while also stabilizing price fluctuations around payment dates. Strategy indicates that the goal of this change is to support a trading price near $100.

Additionally, Strategy has spent approximately $1 billion repurchasing preferred shares as part of its $2 billion buyback program, including $174 million of STRC in the week ending September 20.
The primary reason for STRC's struggles has been attributed to Strive’s ASST$29.44 perpetual preferred stock, which offers daily dividends at a 13% annual yield and has remained close to $100. The introduction of daily payments could be the necessary change for STRC to close the existing gap, as it is currently priced around $98.65.

As of Monday, Strategy holds 846,000 BTC, acquired for $63.80 billion at an average price of $75,416 per coin.

Bitcoin was trading around $83,600 on Friday, while MSTR has seen a 2.15% decrease, trading at approximately $158.
