The acquisition was financed through stock sales. During the same week, Strategy sold 4,531,421 MSTR shares, netting $602.8 million after commissions. Buying High After Selling Low
Between May and August, Strategy sold 6,948 BTC for about $432.5 million, which equates to around $62,250 per coin. The recent repurchase was made at $80,318, a 29% increase, resulting in a net decrease of 2,345 BTC compared to before the selling spree, while maintaining roughly $63 million in cash from the sales.
When STRC fell below its $100 par value in June, a financing option previously used for Bitcoin purchases became unavailable. Consequently, Strategy established a Digital Credit Capital Framework that permits up to $1.25 billion in Bitcoin sales for dividend payments and buybacks of preferred shares at a discount. The company resumed buying only after MSTR's price improved enough to make equity financing more favorable.
