Data Network Launches with New Focus on AI Training Data

Story Protocol has officially transitioned to Data Network, redirecting its efforts from intellectual property to becoming a premier provider of AI training data. This strategic pivot includes the rollout of Trace, a blockchain registry aimed at securing and verifying training data for AI applications.

As part of this rebranding, the previous IP token will convert to the new format, functioning as DATA on a one-to-one basis, simplifying the transition for existing holders. CEO Andrea Muttoni emphasized the importance of lessons learned during the previous focus on IP, noting that insights gained will benefit the new direction.

“2025 wasn't wasted... It provided us with many insights and lessons,” Muttoni stated, referring to the company's journey.

The Data Network's aim is to streamline the often troublesome aspects of data acquisition, processing, and verification, responding to the growing challenge faced by data labs struggling with resource limitations and legal complications. Muttoni pointed out, “Currently, no company can effectively address all three of these needs.”

Despite the market challenges, the DATA token, currently trading at $0.349, has seen a 14% rise in the last 24 hours, although it remains significantly lower than its past peak of $14.78.

Muttoni expressed confidence in partnerships that would validate their market fit, stating, “Now, our focus is on scaling and execution.”
