The State Duma has successfully passed the law titled "On Digital Currency and Digital Rights" after completing both second and third readings. This significant legislation classifies digital currencies as property and lays out foundational regulations for their circulation, while also guaranteeing judicial protection for rights related to these assets, irrespective of whether they have been previously declared.
For the law to come into effect, it still requires approval from the Federation Council and must be signed by the president. Once these steps are completed, Russian citizens will gain the legal ability to invest in cryptocurrencies through domestic exchanges, brokers, and asset management firms.
