🏗️ Robinhood Introduces Multiple New Offerings at HOOD Summit
During its summit in Houston on Tuesday evening, Robinhood introduced a range of new products, marking the most significant announcements in years. These include crypto perpetual futures, 24/7 weekend stock trading, AI trading agents, earnings contracts, and extended options trading hours, all aimed at catering to active traders.
- Perpetual futures for U.S. users. Contracts for Bitcoin and Ethereum will provide up to 10x leverage, while other assets will start at 3x leverage through Robinhood Derivatives and Bitstamp. The head of U.S. futures products at Robinhood noted that traders are looking for leverage, but the company opted to begin with safer options in smaller cryptocurrencies.
- Weekend stock trading. Although Robinhood introduced round-the-clock trading in 2023, it previously did not offer weekend trading. Now, select stocks and ETFs will be available for trading 24/7 on Saturdays and Sundays via an alternative venue called Bruce ATS, effectively bridging the gap between stock and crypto trading.
- AI trading agents. Users can create an AI agent within the app, choose a model from providers like OpenAI or Anthropic, and assign it a trading account to analyze markets and execute trades. A feature named Loops allows users to set predefined instructions for the agent to follow when certain conditions are met. Over 150,000 agent accounts were created after Robinhood opened its platform to external AI earlier this year.
- Earnings contracts. In partnership with Cboe, users will have the ability to trade contracts based on whether a company meets specific performance metrics, such as revenue or earnings per share, or in the case of Apple, iPhone sales.
- Social trading app. Robinhood has launched its Robinhood Social app, now integrated into their main app, positioning itself alongside platforms like Fomo and Pump within the emerging niche of on-chain trading.
Robinhood's VP of product described this as a comprehensive platform where users can trade stocks, buy and sell cryptocurrencies, and engage in prediction markets seamlessly. This concept represents the ideal “everything app.”
It will be interesting to see which of these new offerings becomes Robinhood’s standout feature...
