Hyperliquid Strategies Seeks CFTC Registration
Hyperliquid Strategies, a Nasdaq-listed firm, is applying for registration as a futures commission merchant (FCM) with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). This move would enable the company to manage U.S. client accounts for its proprietary markets, a significant step toward expanding its operations in the U.S. trading landscape.
CEO David Schamis emphasized the importance of this application, linking it to the firm’s substantial quarterly deployment of $802 million, primarily into its HYPE token. "Those two moves are the same bet," he stated, highlighting the strategic alignment between the FCM filing and their investment approach.
Expansion of Trading Opportunities
If the CFTC approves the application, Hyperliquid would allow U.S. traders to engage in perpetual futures trading within a regulated framework. Currently, Hyperliquid is accessible only to non-U.S. users, and its HIP-3 framework enables other firms to create their own perpetual markets on its platform.
