Quantum Solutions, listed in Tokyo, has sold 1,000 ETH for $1.9 million, and it has significantly raised its sales ceiling to fund its AI data center operations.
This decision coincides with Hyperscale Data, another firm in the crypto treasury space, which has liquidated about 100 BTC and established a bitcoin-backed credit line to support its AI data center project in Michigan.
On July 30, Quantum Solutions executed the sale of ETH at $1,903 per token, leading to total proceeds of $1.903 million after fees, as indicated in a filing by the company. This transaction is expected to result in a $100,970 loss, based on the asset's recorded value of $2,003.97 per ETH as of May 31, according to the filing.
The sale price reflects a 47% decrease from the average acquisition cost of $3,595.02 that Quantum reported in June.
Previously, Quantum had sold 904 ETH for $1.61 million on June 16, achieving an average sale price of $1,777 per token. The cumulative sales have now reached approximately $3.51 million, decreasing its total holdings from 6,668.8 ETH to 4,764.8 ETH, a reduction of 29%.
The firm's board has now authorized a total sale limit of 4,375 ETH, up from the previous cap of 1,875 ETH, valid through October 30. This allows for the potential sale of an additional 2,471 ETH, which would amount to nearly 66% of its June holdings.
Of the remaining ETH, 3,050 tokens are currently pledged as collateral to a financial services firm located in Singapore, while 1,714.8 ETH are kept in a trading account.
This latest sale also means that Quantum Solutions is no longer the largest publicly listed holder of ETH in Japan. As of June 30, Def Consulting was reported to hold 4,976 ETH, according to data released.
Quantum intends to allocate the funds raised from these sales towards deposits for data centers, GPU servers, networking infrastructure, and overall operational capital. In June, it signed a nonbinding agreement with Integrated Capital, a firm based in Hong Kong, to explore the establishment of a data center in Japan, although specifics regarding investment amounts, financing conditions, or timelines have yet to be disclosed.
In a separate announcement, Hyperscale Data, listed on NYSE American, mentioned monetizing approximately 100 BTC and creating a bitcoin-backed credit facility with an anticipated interest rate between 4.5% and 5% to finance its Michigan AI data center.
