Perplexity has launched its local AI agent, Personal Computer, which operates 24/7 and retains "memory" between sessions, similar to OpenClaw.

This "general-purpose digital employee" interacts through the same interfaces as users. The tool creates and executes workflows and can run for hours.

The first version of the product, Perplexity Computer, was released in February 2026. On March 11, the company unveiled an update for the AI assistant.

Perplexity positions the service as a standalone computer, offering "high-precision AI search, an orchestration system of 20 advanced models, and agent access to the internet."

"Personal Computer runs on a dedicated Mac mini, which can operate around the clock, connected to your local applications and Perplexity's secure servers," the startup stated in its blog.

Perplexity describes the solution as a "digital representative of the user," enabling remote management of work tools and files from any device.

Personal Computer operates in a secure environment with protective mechanisms. Critical operations require manual confirmation, and an emergency shutdown mechanism is in place in case of failures.

Computer for Businesses

Perplexity conducted research based on metrics from McKinsey, Harvard, MIT, and BCG. The findings revealed that Perplexity Computer:

  • saved internal teams $1.6 million;
  • managed to handle 3.25 years' worth of tasks in just four weeks.

The company also introduced the Computer for Enterprise service, which easily integrates into corporate infrastructure and supports hundreds of popular platforms, including Snowflake, Salesforce, and HubSpot.

Clients can customize the neural network to fit their business processes. For instance, employees can interact with the LLM in Slack via direct messages or a shared channel for coding, creating dashboards, presentations, building financial models, and performing other tasks. Asynchronous workflow initiation is also available.

Updating the Ecosystem

Perplexity announced updates for its other products:

  • Comet has been adapted for corporate environments — administrators can decide where and how the assistant operates, set permissions for the entire browser or specific domains, and approve more active operations;
  • The Perplexity platform is expanding with four APIs: Search, Agent, Embeddings, Sandbox;
  • Computer can now utilize data from Statista, CB Insights, and PitchBook;
  • Perplexity Finance has been updated — a data and analytics layer for Computer, Deep Research, and Search, along with a separate dashboard for tracking markets and news in real-time. The service now has access to over 40 financial instruments.

The entire Perplexity ecosystem will be unified under a single brand — Computer. This initiative aims to integrate artificial intelligence at all levels of operation, from personal tasks to corporate software and financial analytics.

As a reminder, in February, Samsung added Perplexity as a second system AI agent in the new S26 smartphones.
