Pasqal has launched its SOL quantum computing system at the CINECA supercomputing center in Bologna, representing Italy's inaugural deployment of a neutral atom quantum computer. The system features 140 qubits and utilizes the Pasqal Orion processor, seamlessly integrated with the Leonardo supercomputer.
The SOL system, positioned at the DAMA Technopole, is part of the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking and the ICSC project. It is designed for hybrid quantum-classical computing, enabling the quantum processor to handle specialized tasks while the Leonardo supercomputer manages classical processing and large datasets.
