Australian media company Nine Entertainment will cut around 30 positions at The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age, according to The Guardian. Management attributed the reorganization to the "extreme" impact of AI on the industry.

The company plans to focus on developing digital formats and hiring data specialists. According to the Reuters Institute and the University of Sydney, 10% of consumers worldwide and 16% of those under 35 are already using AI chatbots for news, including Microsoft Copilot and Meta products.
