A Michigan state court has imposed a preliminary injunction requiring Kalshi to restrict local users from accessing contracts related to sports events. The platform must implement geolocation measures, with violations potentially resulting in fines of $500,000 per day.
In March, state authorities filed a lawsuit against Kalshi, arguing that the platform is effectively offering sports betting disguised as event contracts without the required licensing. This ban will remain in effect until a final ruling is made in the case.
