  • Locus Founder is an AI service that creates and manages an online business for users, handling everything from market analysis and website setup to product procurement, marketing, and payment processing, all initiated by a simple text message.
  • This system processes payments in USDC through Pay With Locus, a non-custodial wallet framework, allowing the AI to autonomously earn, save, and spend funds while ensuring human oversight.

Send a business idea via text and watch it come to life.

This is the promise of Y Combinator's Locus Founder, which was unveiled on Monday. Users merely need to communicate their business concept through iMessage, SMS, or Telegram, and the AI will take over, including conducting market research using over 40 paid data APIs and creating a brand identity.

Additionally, it constructs complete websites, sources products, and manages outbound marketing efforts, which include creating short video advertisements and distributing them on platforms like Meta, according to an official blog post.

Crucially, it also manages financial transactions. Locus Founder accepts payments in USDC, the second-largest stablecoin pegged to the dollar, along with card transactions. This payment method operates through Pay With Locus, which is a non-custodial wallet designed for AI agents to manage funds securely, featuring built-in spending controls and the ability to audit transactions.

Payments in USDC are settled directly into a non-custodial wallet under the AI's control, eliminating the need for a bank account or extended settlement times typical of services like Stripe. The agent can earn, hold, and spend money instantly, with systems in place for human auditing and oversight. When a sale occurs, the funds are settled straight into the Locus wallet via the Checkout With Locus payment SDK, similar to Stripe.

"The AI agent that generates revenue by managing your business just through a text message. This represents an advancement of our entire system. Each user of Locus Founder automatically becomes a user of Pay With Locus (credits are drawn from our wallets), a user of Build With Locus for site deployment, and a client of our pay-per-use API suite. It's the first application that anyone can easily use, leveraging all of our supporting infrastructure," the official post stated.

In essence, Locus is not just an AI that provides business updates; it is a comprehensive system that allows an AI agent to research, create, market, sell, and manage payments entirely independently, with USDC serving as the financial backbone.

This development suggests a significant shift in the capabilities of AI agents. They are becoming more than just tools for writing emails or processing payments; they are evolving into self-sufficient economic entities capable of launching businesses, advertising, generating income, and managing transactions in cryptocurrency.
