Kraken Secures FIFA World Cup Crypto Exchange Partnership
Kraken has officially become the designated Crypto Exchange Supporter for the FIFA World Cup 2026, as confirmed by both the cryptocurrency platform and FIFA. This partnership aims to enhance fan engagement and showcases Kraken's commitment to sports sponsorship.
The collaboration will initiate with a large countdown concert on June 10 across multiple cities, leading up to the tournament which runs from June 11 to July 19. Although the financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed, Kraken anticipates significant exposure due to the World Cup's expansive viewership, projected to exceed 6 billion worldwide.
Arjun Sethi, Kraken's co-CEO, emphasized the global nature of both football and cryptocurrency, stating that this partnership aims to present an accessible financial ecosystem to a broad audience. "Football has always crossed borders. So does crypto... This isn't a future concept. It's here," he noted.
The tournament will be a landmark event, featuring 48 teams competing in 104 matches across 16 cities in Canada, Mexico, and the United States. Kraken plans to leverage its initiative by providing fan-focused experiences in North America and Europe during the World Cup.
FIFA's Chief Business Officer, Romy Gai, highlighted the importance of innovation in enhancing fan experiences, expressing enthusiasm for partnering with Kraken, which aligns with FIFA’s values on technology and innovation.
This announcement further expands Kraken's existing sports sponsorship portfolio, which includes partnerships with notable clubs such as Tottenham Hotspur, Atlético de Madrid, and RB Leipzig. It also comes in light of warnings from law enforcement regarding potential crypto scams aimed at soccer fans looking to purchase tickets or merchandise related to the World Cup.
