The Irish Department of Finance has released its inaugural national strategy aimed at combating money laundering and the financing of terrorism. This document outlines stricter verification processes for transfers from private cryptocurrency wallets, enhanced due diligence for dealings with foreign crypto companies, and industry standards for accepting cryptocurrencies as a funding source for gambling.

The legislation designed to implement the provisions of the Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation concerning AML/CFT is described as "well advanced." The industry standards are expected to be rolled out in the latter half of 2027.
