The hike took them 16 hours, significantly longer than the eight hours they had anticipated. The group began their descent in the dark, during which one hiker injured his knee. They lost their way and ended up spending the night in a canyon. In the morning, rescuers provided medical assistance and guided them back to the trailhead. The sheriff's office emphasized the importance of consulting local rangers and not solely depending on AI for hiking preparations.
