G7 leaders emphasized the need for a united front against cryptocurrency theft and cybercrimes linked to North Korea. In a document following the summit in Évian, the countries also expressed concern over Pyongyang's nuclear and missile programs, but did not propose specific measures for the crypto sector.
According to Chainalysis, North Korean hackers stole $2.02 billion in cryptocurrencies in 2025, marking a 51% increase from the previous year. Analysts estimate the total value of assets stolen by them to be at least $6.75 billion.
