The digital ruble has officially launched, enabling citizens to open accounts, as Bitcoin's price surges past $81,000.
This week marks the official launch of the digital ruble by the Bank of Russia, coinciding with a significant surge in Bitcoin's value, which has surpassed $81,000.
Digital Ruble Launch Details
Starting September 1, Russian citizens can now create accounts on the Central Bank's platform through their banking apps, with the ability to deposit up to 300,000 rubles monthly. Currently, all transfers and payments made using the digital ruble are free.
In addition, Moscow hosted the inaugural congress of the Association of Crypto Exchange Operators (AOЦВ), which is seeking self-regulatory organization (SRO) status for cryptocurrency exchanges. To legally operate, exchanges must now meet a minimum capital requirement of 15 million rubles, be registered with the Central Bank, and hold SRO membership.
Bitcoin's Recent Performance
Bitcoin has surged approximately 25% in August, climbing from $64,000 to $82,000, with crypto funds seeing inflows of over $2.9 billion in just one week. Major investors have acquired an additional 60,000 BTC, while the cryptocurrency's correlation with gold has reached a six-year high.
However, analysts caution that September, often termed Rektember, is historically unfavorable for Bitcoin, averaging a -3% return. Resistance levels are currently between $83,000 and $86,000, with a daily close above $83,000 required to signal a potential bullish trend reversal.
