  • Deutsche Bank is set to introduce a digital asset custody service for institutional and corporate clients in Europe by the end of 2026, pending regulatory approvals.
  • The initial offering will include a limited number of digital assets such as bitcoin, ether, and stablecoins like USDC and EURC.
  • This move places Deutsche Bank alongside other European banks like Standard Chartered and BBVA, responding to the rising institutional interest in cryptocurrency custody services.

Deutsche Bank (DB) plans to roll out its digital asset custody service by the end of 2026.

The largest bank in Germany stated that this service, contingent on the successful completion of regulatory reviews, will provide European institutional and corporate clients with a compliant way to hold digital assets.

Upon launch, the service will support a curated selection of cryptocurrencies, including bitcoin BTC$75,881.02, ether ETH$2,402.38, and stablecoins such as USDC and EURC.

“Digital assets are not intended to replace the traditional financial system but rather to enhance it,” remarked Gerald Podobnik, co-head of Deutsche Bank's corporate bank, in an announcement on Wednesday.

He added, “We view them as innovative frameworks that operate alongside existing market infrastructures. The development of this service will align with client needs, regulatory standards, and the bank’s risk management strategy.”

Last July, reports indicated that Deutsche Bank was preparing to launch a crypto custody service in collaboration with exchange Bitpanda, targeting a debut in 2026.

As more institutions and corporations embrace digital assets, they are likely to prefer custody solutions from established financial entities they trust for managing their traditional portfolios.

Other major banks in Europe, including Standard Chartered and BBVA, have already launched similar services.
