Cloudflare has launched a system enabling AI agents to make payments via stablecoins using programmable wallets, enhancing payment processes for various services.
Cloudflare has unveiled a new reservation system for unique names linked to its Wallets, enabling AI agents to make payments using stablecoins for services like APIs, data, and content. This innovative feature aims to provide a dedicated payment tool and clear identifiers for vendors to track the origins of requests.

Initially, users can reserve a unique address at cloudflare.pay, with future enhancements planned for funding, withdrawing, and managing virtual wallets for AI agents.
Wallet Functionality
Cloudflare will provide two wallet types:
- Account Wallet — for the account owner, serving as a general balance;
- Virtual Wallet — tailored for individual AI agents and managed via API keys.
Account owners can set spending limits for Virtual Wallets, approve vendor lists, and determine maximum transaction amounts. This setup allows agents to experiment with APIs and paid data sources without needing constant human oversight.
If an agent reaches its spending cap, it can request manual approval. Rapid spending triggers a review process for the Account Wallet administrator, who can adjust limits or suspend transactions.
While Cloudflare has not specified which stablecoins will be supported, it has confirmed that users can store, send, and receive various stablecoins, with additional funding and withdrawal options forthcoming.
Partnerships and Future Plans
In September 2025, Cloudflare and Coinbase established the x402 Foundation, which promotes x402 as an open standard for internet payments involving machines and autonomous agents. This new wallet system will integrate into Cloudflare's payment framework.
Earlier in July, Cloudflare launched the Monetization Gateway, enabling clients to charge for access to various web services, with payments processed through x402 and settled in stablecoins. This follows AWS's introduction of AgentCore Payments, allowing agents to pay for services within Amazon Bedrock using x402.
In May 2025, the Solana Foundation and Google Cloud also launched Pay.sh, allowing AI agents to access Google Cloud services using stablecoins on the Solana network. Additionally, Cloudflare's CEO Matthew Prince announced plans for a stablecoin called NET Dollar, aimed at facilitating fully automated transactions.
As of July 2026, Cloudflare has indicated it will block all "mixed" AI-based web crawlers on its pages by default, reflecting its commitment to security and control in the evolving digital landscape.
