Sam Bankman-Fried, the co-founder of the failed FTX exchange, has requested that the U.S. Supreme Court overturn his conviction and the confiscation of $11 billion. His defense argues that the court did not allow the presentation of evidence showing that FTX and Alameda had assets available to settle with clients, and that the confiscation violates the prohibition against excessive fines.
Currently, Bankman-Fried is serving a 25-year prison sentence. In June, an appellate court upheld the conviction. The Supreme Court has not yet decided whether to take the case.
