Anthropic has unveiled Claude Tag, a new AI tool aimed at enhancing team collaboration within Slack. This innovative service allows users to incorporate an AI as an active participant in their work discussions.
Claude Tag is capable of accessing connected databases, programming code, and various third-party applications. To delegate tasks, users can simply mention the AI using @Claude, prompting it to deconstruct the assignment into manageable steps and carry them out autonomously.
Notable features of Claude Tag include:
- Multi-user functionality: All members of a channel can observe Claude's actions and engage in ongoing discussions started by others;
- Context retention: The AI retains details from conversations, eliminating the need for users to repeat information;
- Proactive updates: In background mode, the AI actively informs users about significant developments and reminders for pending tasks;
- Project management: Claude Tag can independently plan and manage long-term projects over several days.
Internally, Anthropic reports that Claude Tag is responsible for generating 65% of the programming code used within the company, as well as for analyzing metrics and addressing support inquiries.
Administrators have the ability to limit the AI's access to sensitive information and manage token usage constraints.
The service is currently in beta testing for users subscribed to Claude Enterprise and Team plans, and is built on the Opus 4.8 model, replacing the previous Claude app for Slack.
