Amazon MGM Studios has decided to cancel the release of the film Artificial, directed by Luca Guadagnino, which was centered around the turmoil at OpenAI and the abrupt firing of CEO Sam Altman on November 17, 2023. Remarkably, Altman was reinstated just five days after his ousting.
The studio indicated that the film might find a more suitable platform with a different distributor, and is actively looking for a "new home" for the project. This cancellation follows closely on the heels of Amazon's recent partnership with OpenAI, which involved a substantial $50 billion investment.
