Amazon employees have rallied alongside local residents and tech workers in favor of a proposed year-long moratorium on new data centers in Seattle. This initiative is currently under review by the Seattle City Council.
Recent reports indicate that in the past two months, four unnamed companies have submitted plans for five major data center projects, which would collectively demand up to 369 megawatts of power. This amount represents approximately one-third of Seattle's average daily energy usage, significantly exceeding the energy consumption of the city's existing 30 data centers.
