AI video generation is a highly competitive field for developers, as it is one of the few areas of artificial intelligence with a clear monetization model.

Following OpenAI's exit from this segment, Chinese companies have expanded their opportunities, now occupying most of the spots in industry rankings.

In early April, Alibaba released a new version of its flagship video generator Wan, developed by the Tongyi lab. Prior to the launch of Happy Horse, the company had not publicly announced that multiple teams were working on similar tools simultaneously.

The largest e-commerce company in China has made a decisive shift towards AI, aiming to create a general artificial intelligence.

As a reminder, in April, Alibaba's cloud division launched Qwen3.6-Plus.
