On October 4, the Zcash development team implemented the NU7 upgrade in the testnet at block #4,465,026. This enhancement aims to reduce the target block time from 75 seconds to just 25 seconds, disable version 4 transactions, and introduce a Network Sustainability Mechanism that allocates a portion of transaction fees to a reserve for future block rewards. The decision to launch NU7 in the mainnet will be made by the team on October 20, with activation tentatively scheduled for November 5.
