XRP Poised for Bullish Signal as Altcoin Interest Grows

Market Insights for September 18, 2026

XRP, the cryptocurrency focused on payment solutions, is on the verge of a significant bullish development as interest in altcoins rises, coinciding with a decline in Bitcoin's market dominance.

Traders anticipate a "golden cross" pattern in XRP's price movements, a technical indicator that occurs when an asset's 50-day moving average crosses above its 200-day moving average, often seen as a strong bullish signal for long-term gains.

While Bitcoin recently confirmed its own golden cross, XRP's historical performance shows mixed results; previous golden crosses for XRP have typically not led to sustained price increases. Specifically, none of the last 16 golden crosses lasted more than a year, and many were followed by a bearish "death cross." However, several instances did lead to significant short-term gains, with five out of ten crosses achieving increases between 85% and over 1,000% within three months. Currently, XRP's 50-day moving average is just 2% below its 200-day average, the closest it has been since its last golden cross in August 2024.

Meanwhile, Bitcoin trades at approximately $77,980.13, remaining stable despite recent challenges, including legislative setbacks and a Federal Reserve interest rate hike. Its market dominance has dipped below 59%, prompting a shift in focus toward alternative cryptocurrencies. Notably, several altcoins, such as UNI, NEAR, and ARB, have seen price increases of nearly 30% within a day.

Market analyst Alex Kuptsikevich commented on the trend, stating, "Altcoins have seen a sharp rise while major cryptocurrencies lag behind. There is hope in the markets for SEC and CFTC crypto adoption, along with the advancement of the Bitcoin Reserve Bill." He emphasized that traders are increasingly turning their attention to altcoins, although overall market sentiment remains cautious.
