Democratic senators have urged Republicans to immediately hold hearings regarding World Liberty Financial's (WLF) connections to investors from Abu Dhabi linked to Donald Trump's family. The letter was signed by Elizabeth Warren, Gary Peters, Ron Wyden, Richard Durbin, and Richard Blumenthal.
The call for hearings follows a report by the WSJ. According to the publication, an entity associated with Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan secretly acquired 49% of WLF for $500 million shortly before Trump's inauguration. The WSJ claims that at least $187 million went to structures tied to the U.S. president's family, while at least $31 million went to entities connected to Steve and Zach Whitcoff's relatives.
