Venture funds have become more selective and reduced the number of deals in the crypto industry. This was stated by Sami Start, founder of infrastructure provider Transak, in an interview with DL News .

According to him, the capital-raising process has become significantly more complicated compared to the last bull cycle. Amid the overall market downturn, investors are directing funds towards companies developing stablecoin infrastructure and payment networks. Funds are looking for projects that are directly linked to the real economy and traditional finance.

“Abstract ideas no longer attract capital. The focus has shifted to having real users, regulatory compliance, and integrating products into existing financial flows,” noted Start.

Midas Raises $50 Million

Despite the stringent selection criteria, the on-chain investment platform Midas has closed a Series A funding round totaling $50 million. The lead investors were RRE Ventures and Creandum.

Other participants in the fundraising included Coinbase Ventures, Franklin Templeton, Framework Ventures, GSR, Ledger Cathay, and various representatives from the institutional and venture sectors.

Along with the investment announcement, the team introduced the Midas Staked Liquidity (MSL) protocol. This tool provides instant liquidity for on-chain assets, eliminating delays in settlements and reducing counterparty risks.

To enhance sector transparency, developers launched the Midas Attestation Engine. This continuously generates cryptographic proofs of reserves (Proof-of-Reserve) and updates asset values directly on the blockchain. Investors or external smart contracts can independently verify the backing of the platform's tokens (mTokens) at any time.

The raised capital will be used to expand the asset range. Midas plans to implement strategies based on reinsurance, accounts receivable, and launch tokenized stocks. The team is also working on direct integration of functionality into Ledger hardware wallets to attract new liquidity.

According to Vik Singh, general partner at RRE Ventures, Midas's infrastructure is in demand as tokenization fundamentally changes capital markets amid the transition of traditional finance to blockchain. Midas CEO Dennis Dinkelmeyer added that the company's goal is to make investing as open and composable as the internet itself.

Recall that in March, Bloomberg reporters reported that the prediction platform Kalshi raised over $1 billion in a new funding round, increasing its valuation to $22 billion.
